Critical Care Nursing Job Role
The Critical Care Nurse is responsible for ensuring high levels of
care with Intensive Care and High Dependency Units
Critical Care Nursing role.
An intensive-care nurse is a registered nurse who looks after
patients with little or no ability to look after themselves. High levels
of care have to applied in the ICU environment at all times.
The ICU nurse performs the following funtions:
*Receives patients into the ward
*Gives personal care and treatment
*connects the patient to the appropriate medical system
*Systems Include - respiratory instruments, artificial-feeding
set-up, transfusion systems, measuring and monitoring systems
*Conducts a follow-up of the patients health conditions and has to
be aware of any
*change in the health situation of the patient
*Assists the medical doctor in treatment scenarios for example
extreme events of required resuscitation
The Critical Care Nurses have to comply with all the legal,
educational and training requirements to practice as a professional
nurse and is required
by the Royal College of Nursing to be registered.
