Theatre Nurse Jobs
Theatre Nursing is a specialist nursing job where a great deal of expertise and skills have to be applied on a day to day basis. The theatre nurse job role focuses on pre-operative, operative and post-operative functions within the operating theatre environment. The two main roles are either as a circulation nurse or a scrub nurse who is responsible for preparing patients for operations so that infection is minimised. The theatre nurse functions effectively through team playing between the various job role groupings including nurses, ODPs, anaesthetists, surgeons and students.

Scrub Nurses duties include: Hand washing, Sterilisation, Patient Communication, Equipment delivery, Answering Surgeon requests

Circulating Nurse role and duties include: Opening Sterile Packs, Retaining Sterilisation of Equipment and ensuring theatre areas remain sterile

Anaesthetic Nurses duties include: Patient preparation, patient comfort and helping the anaesthetist

Recovery Nurse duties include: Post Operative functions, keeping airways clean, waking patients up putting in drips
